Early Morning Bird Walk

Smith and Bybee Wetlands Natural Area
Join award-winning nature photographer, avid birdwatcher, and Portland resident Gerry Ellis for an exploration of the Smith and Bybee Wetlands Natural Area. Discover the area's rich wetlands and deciduous forests while observing a variety of local bird species and northern waterfowl that may be beginning their seasonal arrival. This guided outing offers a unique opportunity to experience the region's diverse wildlife through the eyes of an expert naturalist and photographer. Note: Participants will miss the first block of morning sessions.
Learn more about what species you might see here and about Gerry Ellis here. Participants will meet in the hotel lobby at 6:45 AM and travel together via self-requested rideshare apps (Uber/Lyft). Sunrise will be at 7:16 AM. Participants are responsible for any costs associated with this transportation (15 minute drive; costs may vary). Admission to Smith and Bybee Wetlands Natural Area is free. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes, and remember to bring binoculars and water!
Portland Pubs

Looking to connect with other attendees in a relaxed setting? Join Portland Pubs for an evening of networking, conversation, and local flavor in the lively Pearl District. Visit three popular Portland establishments and enjoy drinks and great company. All venues are easily accessible by public transit or walking. The fee includes one drink ticket per establishment; participants are responsible for their own food, additional beverages, and public transportation. Participants must be 21 years of age or older.
The three venues are local favorites, including 10 Barrel Brewing, Backwoods Brewing Company, and Deschutes Portland Public House. Meet in the hotel lobby to check in and receive drink tickets. The group will move together to the first venue via the Portland streetcar ($2 each way) or by walking. The walk is about 1¾ miles roundtrip total.
